Avery Alexander

Avery has always been dedicated to helping diverse communities, having volunteered at several non profit agencies. Over the years, Avery has spent her time working in community centers as a mentor and doing community outreach through a Oakland non profit. This has inspired her to make a change in as many lives as possible, starting with the children at Westridge Academy. She found herself at Westridge Academy by way of an internship while completing her Masters in Social Work.
The tight-knit community of Westridge Academy is what kept Avery there following her internship. She hopes to give the kids of Westridge Academy a sense of belonging and the tools to achieve their dreams.

Avery achieved her Bachelors of Science in Human Services with a focus on Counseling at Northeastern University, located in Boston, Massachusetts. Her Masters in Social Work followed at Simmons College.

Avery was raised in Oakland, where a sense of community is very important and sparked her desire to work in similar diverse communities. She comes from a loving family that taught her to embrace people of all walks of life. Recently she has gotten married and graduated from her master’s program.

In her spare time, Avery enjoys spending time with her family, reading biographies and catching up on TV shows.
